A winning collaboration between Sympatex and Lenzing creates recyclable, PTFE-free and PFC-free laminates for Tencel fabrics, supplying “guaranteed green”, sustainable wind- and waterproof fashion and sportswear textiles.
Sympatex® Technologies is a world leading producers of high-tech functional materials in clothing, footwear, accessories and technical fields of application since 1986. Together with selected partners, the company develops, produces and distributes membranes, laminates, and functional textiles as well as finished products worldwide.
The German company is famed for its Sympatex membrane which is a breathable, 100% wind- and waterproof and temperature regulating, used from bicycle gear to hiking footwear, outdoor jackets, and any other high-performance sportswear. But what’s making the deal is that the membrane is certified 100% recyclable, and both bluesign and ‘Öko-Tex-Standard 100’ labeled, as being PTFE-free and PFC-free.
New is the cooperation with Austrian fiber group Lenzing AG. Both companies worked onto a highly functional laminate to make Lenzing’s wood pulp-based Tencel fabrics wind and water resistant while keeping them breathable and sustainable!
“Our agenda 2020 passed at the beginning of this year is based on a precise road map. It comprises, amongst other things, that we want to produce PTFE- and PFC-free Sympatex laminates in a completely climate neutral way by 2020. As part of it, we are also planning to only use natural resources as material, whenever possible. Thanks to the cooperation with Lenzing, we have taken a huge step forward to fulfill our goal of improving the overall ecological balance“. Dr. Rüdiger Fox, CEO of Sympatex Technologies.
