The Italian Camera Nazionale della Moda (CNMI) , in collaboration with Livia Firth’s Eco-Age*, opened last week the application entries for the launch of the Green Carpet Fashion Awards, Italia 2017, a new talent competition, built on sustainable values, set to differentiate the Made in Italy brand and its focus on ethics and sustainability. “This is what sustainability is – Italy is the steward of a unique design heritage, of which I have always been supremely proud. But this must now be developed and built on the values of environmental protection and social justice in our supply chains, which will uniquely allow Italy to be the added value designer and manufacturer on the global fashion stage.” Livia Firth, Founder and Creative Director of Eco-Age
The final award event will be held at Milan’s iconic Teatro alla Scala, next September 24, during Milan Women’s Fashion Week, and will feature top brands such as Fendi, Giorgio Armani, Gucci, Prada and Valentino as well as the selected emerging designers, who are invited to create a bespoke sustainable look, that celebrates the excellence of Made in Italy, pairing ethics with aesthetics.
All entrants are challenged to incorporate into their silhouettes the Green Carpet Challenge (GCC) Principles of Sustainable Excellence and Eco-Age’s sustainable guidelines which relate to a range of social and environmental impacts typically caused by the fashion industry, into their bespoke look.
Five finalists will be invited to attend The Green Carpet Fashion Awards, Italia 2017 at Teatro alla Scala, September 24th. During that evening, one designer will be recognized as the winner of The GCC Award for Best Emerging Designer, winning an exclusive retail deal and the support of CNMI to produce a presentation during Milan Fashion Week.

In the last few years we have worked on plans with a number of leading fashion brands to make Italy a global leader in this industry.
